The Norfolk Journal. A Bit dryer Than Last Week!!
May 11, 2012 in Featured, Holiday and Trip Reports by PaulS
Typically, on holiday last week and it rained, at work this week and the sun shone!! At least I was able to get out and have a couple of hours on the coast. And a decent couple it turned out to be too. I started of at Cley’s East Bank. Manged to pick up Cetti’s Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Skylark, Avocet, Redshank, Sandwich and common Tern, various common gulls, Marsh Harrier and a good few more common species. I then headed down to the beach road at Salthouse where I was treated to Wheatear, Whimbrel, Kestrel, Rook and Jackdaw as well as a couple of Brown Hares. A cracking couple of hours and the bonus was the chance to get a few snaps. Enjoy…..
The next generation of Lapwing. Four chicks last week, three this but getting bigger now.
Lapwing in flight. Now that’s what you call a bird. Just look at those colours!!!
Sedge Warbler singing his heart out.
Skylark (Correct me if I’m wrong. Don’t think it’s Meadow Pip).
All the above from Cley East bank. Over to Salthouse now…
Whimbrel. Again correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think they’re Curlew due to stripes on the head.
Lovely little male Wheatear. What a proud looking pose.
Feeling peckish? Have some Sandwiches!! Panning shot, moving the camera whilst pressing the shutter to get some movement in the sea.
Lovely evening light on the Brown Hare. Wouldn’t put it’s ears up though
And an arty job to finish. Not bad considering it was taken with a 500mm lens.
Oh, must mention. Some chap stopped me to ask what I’d taken. I showed him the shots and he said they’re good, you must have a good camera. I agreed. It’s obviously nothing to do with years of studying, practice and honing my technique. Bless him
