Cromford for Hawfinch today, easy peasy! three seen twice along with a Peregrine, Mandarins Dipper and five Grey Wagtail among other things.

Cromford Canal: 3 Hawfinch, 5 Grey Wagtail, Dipper, Nuthatch, Goldcrest, Green Woodpecker, Peregrine, 12 Little Grebe, 5 Goosander [R.Derwent] 7 Mandarin [R.Derwent]

I didn’t post yesterday because it was dire, in fact a total washout, saved only by a few Goosander and a quartet of Mandarin, so I started my new years birding list on the second of January, happy new year everyone’

Bennerley: 98 Wigeon, 38 Teal, 22 Lapwing, 310 Black-headed Gull, 3 Common Gull, 2 Grey Heron, 4 Pied Wagtail, 1 Grey Wagtail, Bullfinch, Kestrel. Chat Corner: Stonechat [f.] Reed Bunting, 4 Meadow Pipit, 78 Redwing, 36 Fieldfare, Kestrel, 5 Snipe.

Not so busy today but still a few Swallows and a couple of Sand Martin, sadly overcast and misty meaning poor light for photography.

Bennerley. 2 Gadwall, 27 Black-headed Gull, Grey Heron, Grey Wagtail,  5 Greenfinch, 22 Goldfinch, 12 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Meadow Pipit, 8 Swallow. Chat Corner. 2 Kestrel, 2 Grey Heron, Reed Bunting, Meadow Pipit. Shipley Gate. 3 Tufted Duck, 12 Swallow, 4 House Martin, Grey Wagtail. North Marsh. 2 Reed Bunting, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kestrel. Dragonflies. 2 Migrant Hawker, 1 Brown Hawker. Plus. Peacock Butterfly.
