Birdwatching 2 weeks, 1 day agoSaw a few Lapwing chicks at Cley this week but the locals said the weather had put a stop to the migration. I wonder if, or when, the birds arrive it’ll be to late for them to breed? Worrying times.

Birdwatching 3 months, 1 week agoSpring is on its way, meanwhile there have been a very few Golden Plover at Bennerley, I’m off there shortly to see whats happening. Pick a book up at Aldis the other day, Wildlife in the British Iles, not much in that, you might think, but it cleared up a few bits I’ve been meaning to get round to for years, like Grass snakes and a few mammal…[Read more]

Birdwatching 3 months, 3 weeks agoDoes anybody else have Robins singing late at night early morning
While doing my astro thing the other night at about 3 am I could clearly hear 2 of them as well as the tawny owls and a blackbird that was having a go at something maybe a cat or the owls-
Yes, I’ve heard one from Christmas time on the edge of Shipley View singing during the night. I’ve heard Robins sing at night regularly over the years and almost always near roadside lights. I always find it somehow very reassuring!

Heard one this morning at around 4-4.30am. It is a lovely sound though. The number of birds singing in a morning is starting to rise also.

Birdwatching 3 months, 4 weeks agoWish I’d Had My Camera!!
Driving to Woodhouse Eaves yesterday when I spotted a Buzzard perched at the top of an old tree just twenty feet away. It didn’t fly off as I sat in the car watching. Then, as I started to pull off I saw another on the ground about ten feet in front of me eating what looked like a Rabbit. Never got a decent shot of a…[Read more] -
