Hmmm – kind of, see below:

Not sure what else it would, comma's are very large compared to other  and are very distinctive in their wing shape. Large Tortoiseshell woudl be the only similar species.

I'm no expert – so maybe someone else can advise on other ideas?

Hi Chris , had a look butterflys in book it looked alot more vivid orange and was large its wings were same as the comma but it had less markings, do they come in difffferent shades ?.

Hi Neil,

Did it look like the below? If so it was a Comma. That's what your description reminded me of.

If not then do you have any more description? Were there any other colours or markings, was it large or small?

Hi went round sewage works and saw a bright orange butterfly, a really vivid orange with scollaped wings, have not seen one before had a look on internet and could not see one as vivid, any ideas ?
