Hello all, I had Osprey last year over Erewash Meadows, I would think an individual bird would take the same route every year, whilst on the subject of fab raptors it a shame about the Suffolk Sea Eagle Project. dave J.

neil said:Osprey in the valley saw one some years ago now ,one saturday morning down the Erewash meadows, was doing some work on the scrape trying to get rid of the weeds ( Dave Sneap was there and a few others), took a look down the valley saw this shape at first thought it was a heron till i picked up the binoculers and saw it was a osprey and we watched as it flew right over our heads even did a circle and we thought it was going to land but it just casually flew down the valley leaving four very pleased birders.
Nice one Neil, its a case of being in the right place at the right time with passage birds like that. Unfortunately I'm always in the wrong place (work!).

Ospreys in Keswick – fantastic. Its always better to see them in the "wild" away from the Rutland tourist attraction I think, unfortunately I haven't had many opportunities. Still waiting for my first in "our valley" – one day, I know its not unheard of in Spring/Autumn.
I've heard some people combine birding and astronomy by Moon Watching (or something like that) – i.e. watching for migration by looking for silhouettes of birds in the moon. I can't imagine it would be too successful have you ever tried it?
Thanks for posting!

I've been on here a while and posted a few local sightings (wharf Green )
On my daily walks with the dogs (sorry to those who don't like dogs while birding) I like to look around
I've always watched birds but got kick started a few years ago while I was working in Keswick and to keep me out of the pub went to try spot the Ospreys.
I saw, was very impressed with the ospreys and the job in Keswick has been on a yearly basis for the last 9 years and the ospreys still keep me out of the pub.
My main interest is astronomy
