Neil,

think Jim is going to ask DWT about this Shipley Marsh, we spoke about this last time I saw him, to see if they have any plans or know of any plans up there. Obviously if you hear anything please let us know.

Where does the border run there – is it in Broxtowe BC or Erewash?

Chris

Hi Chris, i know i said before but what about shipley marsh with a bit of work ( and its easily accesseible ) it seems to me the site would make a perfect sense as bennerley marsh is close by, the site is owned by the coalboard i think, trying to find out  if anyone is involved with the site, the opencaste group set up some years ago might have some info will let you know if i find things out but then again you might know more than me …………Neil.

I attended the Broxtowe Wildlife Forum a week or so ago; this is a six monthly meeting organised by the council. I was very impressed – a great opportunity to meet some people obviously dedicated to their local groups and passionate about wildlife. Representatives from the council and many local groups were there, as well as Notts Wildlife Trust and Notts BAG.

One of the points on the agenda was the Borough Conservation Strategy, and groups were invited to feedback on the document – particularly around the site actions, and give their thoughts and updates.

So here's your chance, please look at the document:

http://www.broxtowe.gov.uk/CHt…..27&p=0

and have a think, particular about our local sites. What would you like to see done, is the council doing enough, are they getting it right?

If people can have a think and reply here – or email at webmaster (at) erewashvalleywildlife.org.uk – obviously replacing the (at) with @ – then I'll collate everything and get back a response. I need a response in the next week please.

Thanks,

Chris
