Thanks for the info Mark, I might have to give it a go next year – after all its not far, we're very lucky to have it in the Midlands

My problem is I'd come back with all sorts of things I couldn't afford I think and get a blasting from the missus when I got home.

I went on the Sunday, which I have done nearly every year since is started (when it was a lot smaller). It is rare I actually buy anything there, picked up a couple of books this year, one because I had a voucher to use and the other because I got a free signed copy as it used a couple of my photographs. It is great for meeting up with people from all over the world that I only ever see once a year at the bird fair, as well as window shopping in the optics and art marquees (something that would fill me with dread if suggested for a day out in Nottingham, but surprisingly good fun at the bird fair). First year I had not been to any of the lectures, but there were not any that I particularly fancied.

Spent a couple of hours on the reserve in the afternoon, 3 Red Kites, 3 Black Terns and a Wood Sandpiper being the highlights.
