"Knew I should have paid more attention to "genital Determination of Picture-winged Flies"."

That's really funny as I was thinking the same thing earlier tonight Laugh

In all seriousness that's on heck of an achievement, especially when you consider he's got a very ordinary sort of number for British birds. I wonder how many invertebrates he's had to "depatch" or plants he's dug up to get a correct ID? I know from doing pond surveys the only way you can truly identifiy many insects is to kill them and take them back to a lab to view them under a microscope. Can you imagine going for a walk with this guy. It would probably take about two hours to get 500yds. Mind you, you'd probably be up to about 1000 different species Laugh

Just read the Birdguides weekly bulletin.  This year is due to see the top British pan-species lister hit 10 000.  Off to tot up my list now.  I think I'll struggle to hit 1000.  Knew I should have paid more attention to "genital Determination of Picture-winged Flies".
