I have seen a juvenile along Hall's Lane in August a couple of years ago, would need to check my records for exact date. The problem with them is that they go quiet and become much harder to observe after they first arrive. There were 4 reeling along Hall's Lane yesterday.

Just to add Mikes comments as he can't get onto the forum:
in 2000 there were no records of GHW in the Benn recording area nor in 2001 and only 1 record from the sheep fields in 2002- 2003 saw a marked increase from 4 locations around Benn, and there seems to have been a steady increase year on year,as yet there is no proof that they have breed at Benn, from my own counts and those from Alan
there must be at least 14 birds on site- plus those not located yet,Alan as taken a very good photo of a GHW located near Eastwood Lock,I am sure there are still more to find yet.Ps it is also the first Kingfisher I have seen this year [25th,]I was starting to think that I would not find one due to the harsh winter we have just suffered.

Even heard one from my garden yesterday morning on some nearby waste ground, one of the advantages of being outside at 5.15am sound carries further. Also had one on the golf course on Saturday, which is the first I have heard there in 10 years.

Excellent numbers, I've not heard similar reports from other areas but not sure why Bennerley would get so many in particular.

Is this a record year for Grasshopper Warblers? I counted 8 different birds this morning without covering all potential areas, on saturday I had 6, 2 of which were not calling from the same locations today. I cannot remember ever hearing this many before, but surprisingly few Willow Warblers I only counted 4 of these.
9 Buzzards in the air together over Chat Corner and then drifting north were also worthy of mention.
