a slip and slide walk around the southern end of erewash meadow’s, loads of bird’s present as this end of thr reserve is full to overflowing with water at the moment.
the following were seen,bullfinch,coot,cormorant(2 in the dead tree with the owl box on it),gadwall(18 up at the footbridge end),wood pigeon,magpie,crow,blackbird,greylag(55 grazing at the plumtree road end),wigeon(100+),blue tit, great tit,mallard(30+),shelduck(2),lapwing(25),moorhen,grey heron, chaffinch, kestrel.

It’s about time we had some decent wet weather. I’m over in Norfolk at the moment and some areas are in drought. Unbelievable!!
but muddy this end as well
send a few widgeon up my end would you
the wigeon have been down this end all winter but have not been visable very often, as they have been on the main river course in the middle of the resevere but could be heard calling. with all the extra water they seem to have spread out a bit, maybe they are not keen on going up that end due to the shooting club?
