Mapperley Reservoir Landscapes.
January 14, 2012 in Featured, Uncategorized by PaulS
Met up with the illustrious Mr Love this morning for a bit of frosty fingered early morning snapping. We started of in Shipley Wood then headed back down to Mapperley Reservoir. I don’t know if you’ve ever done an image search for this spot but there doesn’t seem to be that many landscape shots from here. As we already know on this site the Erewash Valley is the jewel in England’s crown, so to redress the balance and (hopefully) put some shots up that show off the beauty of Mapperley Res I mounted the 10-20mm lens and filters and took a few shots. Here’s a selection from the morning. Hopefully they just go to show how amazing the area around here is.
Cheers
Paul
The road from Shipley Wood. Ratcliffe power station in the distance.
Reflections in the water from the fishing pegs near the car park.
Check out all the empty mussel cases amongst the reed.
A little contre jour to finish. It’s French for against the daylight.

Like them Paul, very nice images. Glad I stayed in bed this morning, looks cold out there.
It was worth getting up early. Nice set of landscapes Paul particularly like the first and last. Do you reckon those mussels would be safe to eat? The muscles though are probably pretty tough:-)
some great pictures there Paul, I’ve barely stopped all day but I’ll post mine tomorrow, shattered now.
Might be Maggie. Most mussels are, although it can depend on the water they live in. They filter feed so could be full of pollutants.
Look forward to seeing yours Chris. Apart from the blurred reed ones that you know about I’ve tried to upload ones that are probably more traditional than yours, especially post processing wise. These are all single shot images taken using the polariser and 0.9nd soft grad and have literally had a levels tweak and a crop. I’ll leave all the tone mapping and HDR to the experts
Also meant to mention there was a pair of Great Crested Grebe courting today. How early is that??
great photos paul ,its been a great week end for frost and sun was out this morning up at mapperlry hide
take care all
