Just to keep the post fresh. Weather looks OK for Sunday so it should be a good turn out. Hope some of you can come along and say hello.
Cheers
Paul

Another week and another trip to Norfolk. Managed to drop into Narborough Railway Cutting on the way out. There was a marked difference to last year at this time. As you can see from the shot below there was a […]

The M1 bridge comes up trumps again. Terrific set Gary. You’ve got some excellent detail in these. The last three in particular are superb.

Cheers Mick,Know what you mean about things being lively got plenty of blurred pics, twigs and leaves with nothing on them
You lucky so and so. No I have nothing new in the garden.
Mmmmm
I get Starlings,Wood Pigeon and a couple of Blackbird
must be doing something wrong
Don’t forget It’s big Garden Birdwatch this weekend.
Report any sightings to the RSPB.
I get Starling, Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Pied and Grey Wagtail, Blackbird, Collared Dove and Wood Pigeon. Oh, and House Sparrows.
I’d love a house sparrow
Wood pigeon, long tailed tit, robin, dunnock, goldfinch, though still very slow this year
“I’d love a house sparrow”
The French deli mate. They sell ‘em by the kilo
This winter I’ve had blue, great and coal tits regularly. One goldfinch briefly and a chaffinch looked but decided my mixed seeds and fat cake didn’t take his fancy. I’ve had greenfinch and reed bunting in the past and mealworms disappear like hot cakes (but I never see what takes them).
My mealworms are preferred by Starlings, Pied Wagtails and cats. Yes cats love them. I’ve even had a Ginger Tom on my birdtable eating the worms. And I wonder why I don’t get much avian life!
Oh, Magpies like them too when I sprinkle some on the garden.

After the strong winds,I moved the sunflower hearts feeder from the right of the garden to left,to within seven foot of the peanut feeder[the peanut feeder the most used one]now getting more birds in.coal tit.blue tit.great tit.robin.house sparrow.
goldfinch.chaffinch.wood pigeon.collared dove.jackdaw.dunnock.blackbird.song thrush.
they come every day.also drop in l.t.tit.wren.siberia blackcap.m.very rare a starling.

hardly any think at all , robin black birds thats all
mick
Steve you can have some of my house sparrows. They keep eating the sunflower hearts that I put out for the Goldfinches.
Maurice you can have all my Starlings. The come in like a raiding party and anything tasty that has been put out is scoffed within seconds.
Paul you won’t have time for Garden Birdwatch. You will be too busy with Frankenstein.
Ah, the thing is Maggie I’ll be outside so will have full view of the table. If the lightning fails to strike I might have to attach a few starlings to my wind turbine and generate electricity that way!
This thread seems to have somewhat disappointingly descended into frivolity!
That said, Paul, do you have the mail order address for that French Deli?
Jim
you need to go to Paris Jim. Baskets full of passerines are sold in most butchers.
Apologies for the light hearted banter. Back to the serious stuff. Big garden birdwatch results were very disappointing for me today. 1 Pied Wagtail, 2 Bluetits, 12 Starlings, 1 Wood Pigeon.
i normally get wood pigeon, collared dove, house sparrow, dunnock, robin, blackbird and the odd starling.
Paul, well, we need to mount a EVW trip out to Paris then to procure said goods!
Jim
We could do it in a day. Derby to Paris is only 5 hours on Eurostar. Beats going to Tesco!
Ah, Paris in the spring. A stroll down the Seine, pay homage to Morrison in Père Lachaise, a coffee with the artists at Montmartre and the Eiffel by night. Definitely beats going to Tesco!!!
GBW yielded
wait for it
