water level dropping on the southern end, no sign of any gadwall’s or the shelduck’s. following birds seen,
great tit,teal(12),greylag(47 in the field’s on the far side),mallard(30),wigeon(80+),robin,blackbird,grey heron(2),cormorant,wood pigeon,jay,black headed gull,great spotted woodpecker,blue tit,chaffinch(signing),lapwing(65),magpie, and reed bunting.
a nice morning’s walk followed by a bacon cob in the fiherman’s cafe, before work this afternoon.

Glad to say I had a good count this morning. As well as my usual subjects, two Greenfinches which I haven’t seen for a couple of months decided to turn up as well. The bird grapevine was obviously working.

walk from langley to shipley boat along the canal, and back via north marsh. Finally spotted a kingfisher by the foot bridge over the erewash below the sewage work’s.
also seen were,wood pigeon,goldfinch,magpie,robin,blackbird,great tit,collared dove,crow,black headed gull,dunnock,mallard,mute swan,moorhen,coot,goldcrest,long tailed tit,pied wagtail,redwing,fieldfare,wren,kestrel,jackdaw,blue tit, and kingfisher.
