Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides).
November 13, 2011 in Biopedia, Birds by PaulS
A small Heron that is more likely to be found in Southern Europe and the Middle East. A bird that normally over winters in Africa obviously can’t resist the charms of the Erewash Valley any longer and we can proudly add it to our list!! Most likely to be seen under a railway bridge on the River Erewash near Attenborough.

You beat me to it! I was meaning to get round to adding this
Thanks.
We may never see one again but no-one can take it away from us now.
Fancy a few Great Reed Warbler shots adding to the list?
