Blue Tailed Damselfly (Ischnura elegans).
August 7, 2011 in Biopedia, Dragonflies and Damselflies by PaulS
A very dainty Damselfly and easily missed amongst the long grasses where it habituates. Males are invariably blue but females can be a variety of shades from pink to green.
Fairly ubiquitous to our area but have been found in abundance around Peewit Carr and Manor Floods meadows. Look for them amongst the Common Blue Damselflies that share the habitat. The dark tail and smaller size makes them easier to identify amongst their larger relatives.
